The Doula

Stella Lyn CD (DONA) is a DONA Certified Birth Doula, apprentice midwife, an herbalist, and mother. She began her work with birthing families in 1998 when, feeling inspired by her own birth experiences, she felt called to the path. She has studied and apprenticed with licensed home-birth midwives, acquiring hands-on skills and knowledge related to many aspects of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum healing period. She has completed all of the requirements for doula certification as defined by DONA International, the gold standard of of Doula certification agencies. This has included extensive reading, lactation education, specific trainings related to pregnancy, labor support, and all aspects of childbirth. She is currently working towards becoming a licensed Direct-Entry Midwife.

While attending births, Stella holds deep respect for the family's rite of passage. Her reverence and trust in birth are as big as life itself, and her goal is to convey, though her presence, that same trust to the birthing woman, her partner, and any others who are present. Her ability to roll with changes during labor is a valuable gift to families.

Stella’s inspiration as a doula is to see each woman, when she holds her newborn in her arms, glowing with love and claiming herself as the heroine in her own birth story. She sees family health as resting on a foundation of empowered parents and secure children, and works to help families use their birth experience as a cornerstone for that bedrock truth.

"The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born. She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new." ~Rajneesh

TESTIMONIAL: "I tell my birth story to people with such pride, and I love telling people about you. You helped me to recognize what I am capable of, and I would not have changed anything about my birth. If there are more babies in our future I pray that their births will go just as smoothly. Thank you again, so very much." Happy former client, Elizabeth.
