Your Birth Package
~ After our free initial consultation, we will have at least two prenatal visits, to discuss and plan for your birth. These appointments usually last 90 minutes or so.
~ A comprehensive birth plan, which we will create together, is an integral part of my services for you. This process is often educational for the family-to-be, offering an opportunity to delve into details about the different choices you will make as parents at the time of your child's birth, as well as specific practices you wish to implement or exclude from your maternity care. Having a birth plan prepared often helps an expectant mother feel more confident that her wishes will be honored, and makes the trip to 'labor land' easier!
~ Phone and email support, as needed, from the time the contract is signed until you birth your baby.
~ 24/7 on-call assistance beginning at 38 weeks (This is flexible-if you are experiencing a lot of early activity, I will come on call for you sooner. We will have frequent communication about any changes. My care for you is tailored to your unique situation.)
~Continuous care as soon as labor begins, throughout your labor and birth experience, and for the first couple of hours immediately after birth. Laboring at home together in the early stages of labor is an option.
~ Basic breast feeding support
~ 24 hour phone support for the first week of your child’s life
~ A postpartum home visit after your baby is born. This is a valuable piece of doula care, which affords you the opportunity to stay home and rest while I come to check on how you are healing, integrating your experience, and to provide hands on care with breastfeeding or make referrals if necessary. I try to time our home visit with the arrival of your milk, to ease the transition for you. Any additional postpartum visits are billed at $25 per hour, payable at the time of service.
COST
Total cost of the birth package is $750. A retainer of $250 is paid at the time a letter of agreement is signed. The remainder is to be paid by 38 weeks of pregnancy. I accept VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVER. If this cost is prohibitive for you, be sure to ask for a payment plan or sliding scale. Every woman deserves a doula!
